Experience authentic Warsaw

Highlights of Warsaw will keep you excited, but real experiences are hidden a bit further beyond the obvious. To get there, you’ll need some proper inside knowledge. But that’s exactly what I’m here for!

EBOOK: JEWISH WARSAW GUIDE

This guide will take you in the footsteps of the Jewish minority in Warsaw, via synagogues, prayer houses and cultural centres (also post war). Listen also to the tales of the places where the Jewish inhabitants of Warsaw fought and survived during the Nazi occupation.

Treat it as a self-guided tour. You'll explore Warsaw on your own and be independent, while still getting expert insights into the background of Jewish Warsaw, just as you would if you attended an organised group tour. The best of both worlds.

Have a great trip!

GLAD TO HAVE YOU IN WARSAW

Warsaw is my hometown. I’ve known it since I was a child, and it continues to amaze and inspire me.

For 12 years I’ve been a guide to the capital, but earlier I worked as a journalist on information TV for several years, organized conferences and cultural events, produced TV programs and prepared several documentaries.

I write books and articles about the city. I’m currently working on a program accompanying business and scientific conferences.

Among my guests were the protagonist of the main character of the French hit „Untouchables” and the Japanese heir to the throne.

Until the Second World War, Poland was a multi-ethnic and culturally diverse country. A large number of foreigners living here or their descendants was a result of the policy of openness and tolerance of Polish rulers. The largest Jewish community in Europe also lived in Poland. In Warsaw itself, one third of

the population were citizens of Jewish origin. This route will guide you in the footsteps of the Jewish minority, through synagogues, houses of prayers, and cultural places (including postwar culture). You will also listen to stories about places where Jewish residents of Warsaw fought for survival during the Nazi occupation.

explore communist warsaw with me

After the Second World War, Poland went under the „charge” of the Soviet Union for 50 years. The country was officially presented as independent, but in actuality the ruling politicians acted in accordance with orders from Moscow. From the 1950s, communism dominated everyday life and Polish art. In Warsaw, tenement houses from the early twentieth century, considered as the legacy of capitalism at the time, were leveled to the ground or deprived of decorations, giving way to powerful buildings styled in real socialism. Poles, who had been accustomed to falling into foreign hands once in a while, quickly learned to use the small areas of independence and were called „the funniest hut of the Communist bloc.” On this route we will meet iconic places of Warsaw from this period.

chopin’s warsaw

The life of the famous 19th-century composer Fryderyk Chopin was strongly connected with Warsaw. Born in 1810 to a Frenchman and a Polish, the artist spent the first 20 years, or half of his life, in this city. Interestingly, Warsaw was a part of … the Russian Empire at that time. Chopin left Warsaw and continued his fight against the invader from abroad. There, in Paris, he died in 1849. The body was buried at the famous Pere Lachaise cemetery. The heart – according to the composer’s last will – returned to Warsaw, to the church of St. Cross. On this route, we will see places of key events in the life of Chopin.
